Sunrise period (01/21/2014 - 02/20/2014)
The introduction is currently in the so-called sunrise phase, in which trademark owners who have registered their trademark(s) in the Trademark Clearinghouse (TMCH) can register corresponding domain names under .ruhr. It is irrelevant where the trademark owners have their place of business or residence. The domains are allocated according to the "first come, first served" principle.
Ruhr Phase (02/25/2014 - 03/26/2014)
In this phase, usually referred to as "Landrush", local companies, organisations and private individuals from the Ruhr area have the opportunity to register their preferred domains for one month. The principle "first come, first served" applies once again when awarding the contract.
The domain owner must have the registered office or residence in one of the 53 municipalities belonging to the Regionalverband Ruhr (RVR) as well as an administrative contact in Germany for the corresponding domain.
General availability (from 03/27/2014)
In this phase, which begins in March, interested parties who have not previously fulfilled the respective conditions can now also register their desired domains.
