After all, in this chaos EURID has decided to update the original changes to the registration conditions (we reported about this here).

Accordingly, private individuals or companies with a place of residence or business in Great Britain (GB) or Gibraltar (GI) are no longer allowed to register .eu domains as of November 1, 2019. There is one exception, however, if you can prove that you are a citizen of one of the remaining 27 EU member states.

Domains for which the current domain owner lives or is domiciled in GB or GI will be contacted separately by the Registry at the end of October. Until December 31, 2019 you will have the opportunity to update the domain accordingly and to fulfil the amended registration conditions. Until then, you can provide the appropriate proof, adapt the contact details of the domain or transfer the domain to someone else. During this time, the domains will not be able to

• be transferred to someone who has their place of residence or business in GB or GI,
• be extended manually or
• be automatically extended. Domains that expire during this period are set to the status "withdrawn".

Domains which do not meet the current conditions until December 31, 2019 inclusive will also be set to the status "withdrawn" by the registry. Then these domains will no longer work and will no longer support active services. As of November 1, 2020, these domains can then be freely registered again.
